How to get a press release on Yahoo Finance

· 5 min read

Yahoo Finance cannot be bought one outlet at a time, which is why it carries no à-la-carte price here and appears only in the Headline package at $899. The unit of purchase is a tier-one wire release rather than a placement, so a small per-outlet fee quoted for Yahoo Finance is either routing you through one of those wires anyway or selling you something else. The page itself is your copy verbatim, labelled a paid press release, and the links were nofollow on every page we opened.

Most outlets in press distribution can be bought one at a time. Yahoo Finance mostly cannot, and the clearest statement of why comes from a distributor talking about its own limits. EIN Presswire's published FAQ says it plainly:

To get your news into Yahoo Finance you need to use PR Newswire, GlobeNewswire, or Business Wire.

That is a competitor telling you what its own product does not reach. Yahoo Finance takes syndicated financial copy from a short list of tier-one wires, so the unit of purchase is a wire release — not a placement. Any vendor quoting you a small per-outlet fee for Yahoo Finance is either routing you through one of those wires anyway, or selling something else.

What the page looks like

The URL is an ordinary Yahoo news path — finance.yahoo.com/news/{slug}-{timestamp}.html, or under a sector path such as /sectors/technology/articles/ — with no /press-release/ segment in it. Yahoo does not fence the content off by URL the way AP News does. It labels it instead:

This is a paid press release. Contact the press release distributor directly with any inquiries.

The byline slot carries the wire's name — "TMX Newsfile" on one release we traced — rather than a journalist's. The body is your copy verbatim, dateline included, ending in a contact block.

What the link does

Nofollow, on every Yahoo Finance page we opened.

ReleaseWireLink treatment
23 February 2026Newsfilenofollow × 3
9 June 2026Newsfilenofollow × 2

Both were Newsfile releases, so we cannot claim to have tested Yahoo against a second wire, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can say is that on this outlet the measurement matched the industry default: almost every press-release link is nofollow, and a nofollow link passes no ranking credit by design. That is publisher policy, applied to syndicated copy, not something your vendor negotiated away.

Yahoo Finance is one of the few marquee names we can actually check

This is where Yahoo diverges from the rest of the flagship set, and it is worth knowing before you buy.

Yahoo Finance's robots.txt, read on 29 August 2026, blocks about forty-five named crawlers in one grouped stanza ending in Disallow: /ClaudeBot, GPTBot, CCBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, Bytespider and Meltwater among them. But User-agent: * is not one of them. The wildcard group disallows a list of internal and ad paths — /caas/, /xhr, /screener/insider/ — and leaves /news/ open.

So a verification agent that identifies itself honestly, is not on the named list, and obeys the file can fetch a Yahoo Finance news URL. Ours does: across repeated passes, Yahoo Finance returned a stable 200 and verified cleanly every time — an automatic-verification rate of 1.00. Of the four names in our Headline package that carry no à-la-carte price, Yahoo Finance and Business Insider are the two we can confirm by machine; MarketWatch and Benzinga are the two we cannot.

The catch is the other half of that robots file. If Yahoo has told the major AI crawlers to stay off the domain, a Yahoo Finance placement is a poor instrument for being cited in machine-generated answers, whatever a sales page says.

Where it sits in what we sell

Yahoo Finance carries no à-la-carte price in our catalogue. It appears in one place: the Headline package at $899, alongside Business Insider, MarketWatch, AP News, USA Today, Street Insider, Barchart, Digital Journal and the Toronto Sun.

That is not a merchandising choice. It follows from the constraint at the top of this article: the wire tier that reaches Yahoo Finance is bought as a release, so it is priced as one. Our wholesale on that plan is $152.10, and the package around it costs us $300.60 once the mastheads it names are bought as their own line items — the arithmetic is published rather than implied.

One caution about how the tier is described across the market. The supplier plan behind Headline is documented as reaching 300+ outlets, not 500+, and outlet-count inflation is endemic in this segment. Buy the tier for the named outlets it documents.

Who should buy it

Buy it if you are announcing something financial — a raise, a partnership, a product with revenue attached — and you want it sitting on a finance destination that investors, customers and search engines all already visit. Yahoo Finance is the strongest general-purpose finance masthead available at this price, and the page is straightforwardly checkable afterwards.

Buy it if you want a package rather than a placement. Everything the Headline tier reaches arrives on one submission, so the marginal cost of Yahoo Finance inside it is effectively nothing.

Do not buy it for the link. Nofollow on both pages we measured, and that is the expected answer for syndicated copy on a large publisher.

Do not buy a package for Yahoo Finance alone if the announcement is not financial. A consumer product launch or a hiring announcement will sit in a finance feed doing very little, and a press release cannot make a reader care about news that is not news to them.

Do not believe a small per-outlet price for it. The wires that carry Yahoo Finance are named, in writing, by a distributor that does not have access to them. If the number you are quoted is far below a wire release, ask which wire — and ask for a native permalink on that wire's own domain before you pay.

Where these figures came from

  • EIN Presswire, Frequently Asked Questions — "To get your news into Yahoo Finance you need to use PR Newswire, GlobeNewswire, or Business Wire": https://www.einpresswire.com/faq
  • Yahoo Finance robots.txt, fetched 29 August 2026 — a single grouped stanza naming roughly forty-five crawlers (anthropic-ai, ClaudeBot, Claude-Web, GPTBot, CCBot, Google-Extended, PerplexityBot, Bytespider, Meltwater, NewsNow, Scrapy and others) followed by "Disallow: /", with a separate and far narrower "User-agent: *" group that leaves /news/ open: https://finance.yahoo.com/robots.txt
  • Google Search Central, "Qualify your outbound links to Google" — why a nofollow link passes no ranking credit: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/crawling-indexing/qualify-outbound-links
  • Link attributes read from two live Yahoo Finance pages carrying Newsfile releases, published 23 February 2026 and 9 June 2026: nofollow on all five client links across the two pages.
  • Paid-press-release label and wire byline read from the same pages.
  • Automatic-verification rate of 1.00 for finance.yahoo.com, measured across repeated passes by our own verifier with robots.txt honoured: research/verification-feasibility.md.
  • Package membership, absence of an à-la-carte price, and the $152.10 wholesale on the Headline supplier plan read from content/catalog.ts and the supplier’s published reseller credit ladder documented at https://prnow.io/api-docs
  • The supplier documents the Headline plan as reaching 300+ outlets; the higher figure in circulation is not one the purchased SKU supports.

We distribute press releases to 300+ outlets, then open every published link and report what actually went live.
